Portraits Of CCC
In the Spring 2022 semester my Alternative Printing Processes class explored the Kallitype process. This is a iron-silver based process sensitized with ferric oxalate and developed in potassium oxalate. The process was patented in 1889 by W. W. J. Nicol.
As with most of my alternative process classes we typically choose a project to photograph and print in the process that we studied. My students Wanda Floyd and Alan Wyatt and I decided to do a portrait project of Clovis Community College. We photographed students, faculty, staff and administration for this. The final body of work consisted of almost 40 portraits which we hung in the Eula Mae Edwards gallery on the campus in the Fall of 2022.
